When I first launched Modern Motherhood Musings, my biggest goal was to share my experience as a full-time mom with a full-time career, and to connect with other women navigating this journey too.
I longed for a creative outlet, and a space to build community.
Community however, is a two-way street, and the problem with a newsletter is that it’s a one-way dialogue. I’m sharing my experiences with you, but you’re not getting to connect with each other.
That’s why I’ve decided to move to a platform called Substack (some of you might already be familiar with it).
For most of you, this change won’t mean a lot. You’ll still get to read this newsletter directly in your inbox every Friday morning. BUT, if you’re wanting to engage more with these posts through comments, or even connect with others readers - you’ll now be able to do that!
I love reading your email replies each week and I’m so thankful when you take the time to reach out and respond, but I also really want this to be a place where you all can get to know each other, and share your experiences.
There are so many cool women (and men) who read this newsletter each week - from mamas with kids who are in high school or out of the house, with tons of wisdom to share, to moms who are just starting this journey and slugging through those sleepless newborn days. There’s a story or an experience that someone in this space is living through that we can all relate to.
Community is the thread that’s been wound through each season of my life, and helps remind me of what’s important. I hope we can continue to be a space where we all share our stories, and feel a little less alone.
Stop in and say “Hello!” - where are you located? And what’s bringing you the joy during this current season of life?
💄 I’ve found the perfect lip tint for you! It’s non-drying, stays on for hours, and comes in two fabulous colors - red and hot pink. I’ve been wearing it non-stop.
🍽️ This Mexican Picadillo was an easy meal to throw together this week, cooked in one pan, and wasn’t too spicy for the kids to eat. The only adjustment I made was using less salt and less broth than it called for.
📖 I just finished reading All The Colors of The Dark and it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. It was dark, and sad, but incredibly well-written with complex characters and a story that tackles some of life’s greatest questions.
I hope you all love this new experience on Substack as much as I do!
Happy Friday, Friends!
Looks great, Bri! I love reading your newsletters and find them totally relatable! Best part of Friday mornings.
Hi - I love the new platform. I look forward to opening my email every Friday to read your latest newsletter and I couldn’t be more proud. I am a Mom (yours) and a grandmother (aka Kiki) and my joy is found in loving and serving my family and friends and traveling when I can. It is a gift to watch you all “grow where you are planted” in your communities. We are all stronger together and I personally learn a lot staying engaged with younger and older generations. Thank you for connecting us.
