How To Romanticize Your Summer
No. 72 - Front porch coffee, outdoor dinner parties, and ways to make summer special without jet-setting to Europe.
It’s easy to believe that summer magic only lives in European villages or beneath a beach umbrella on a remote island. But the truth is, some of the best parts of summer aren’t tied to a passport or extravagant getaway. They’re waiting in our own backyards, kitchen tables, and Tuesday afternoons.
This season, what if we all tried to romanticize summer? Not in a Pinterest-perfect kind of way, but in a grounded, intentional one. Let’s soak up the joy that’s already here.
Maybe that means drinking your coffee on the front porch before the house wakes up, even if it’s just for five minutes. That little ritual, with the sun warming your face and a warm mug in hand, can feel like a luxury when you let it.
It might mean taking a day off work, not because you're sick, but simply to enjoy it. Spend the afternoon at the pool, or take your kids to swim lessons without rushing. Summer doesn’t have to require a boarding pass to feel magical.
Make plans with friends, not just in the group chat. Send the actual invite. Host a simple outdoor dinner party with cold drinks, twinkly lights, and conversation that stretches into the evening. There’s something about eating outside with people you love that makes time feel slower and sweeter.
Maybe you pick a signature cocktail to perfect for the season. Something fun and unexpected. A spicy pineapple margarita sounds pretty good to me.
And don’t forget to read. Make a summer book list, and when you catch yourself doomscrolling, trade the screen for a few pages. Let yourself be transported instead of just distracted.
Romanticizing summer isn’t about pretending life is something it’s not. It’s about noticing what’s already beautiful and choosing to lean into it. It’s the simple things. The smell of sunscreen. A hot sidewalk under bare feet. The hum of cicadas. Staying out past bedtime because the sun hasn’t set yet.
Your summer doesn’t have to look like a travel blogger’s highlight reel to be meaningful. Most of ours don’t. But there’s still magic to be found. Homemade, slow, and just for us.
So here’s your invitation to romanticize your summer. Make it yours. Slow down when you can. Chase joy where it lives. Choose presence. That’s where the magic really is.
Leave me a comment and tell me what you think! I’d love to hear from you.

👗 I had to buy some clothes for work, which I don’t wear that often, so I decided to give TredUp a try and I am SO impressed. It’s a second hand shop, and everything I bought was excellent quality, at a fraction of the price I would have paid for something brand new. Use this link for 45% off your first purchase plus free shipping!
🥵 I live in Houston where you can’t walk outside in the summertime without sweating, so these deodorant wipes are a lifesaver. I carry them around and have been thankful on multiple occasions to have them with me for a quick freshening up!
👜 I bought myself a new computer bag for an upcoming work trip and went with this laptop backpack. It’s a perfect size, a beautiful leather, great neutral color and has a sleeve to attach it to my suitcase.
Happy Friday, Friends! If you enjoyed this week’s musing, please use the button below to share it with a friend.
